Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte

The Island Garden City of Samal is a 4th class city in the province of Davao del Norte,  Philippines. The Igacos or famously known as Samal is part of the  Davao metropolitan area and is two kilometers away from Davao City, the largest city and the main economic center of Mindanao. The name Samal derives from the Sama Bajau peoples, the indigenous people who were the first inhabitants of the island. It has a population of  116,711 inhabitants, according to the 2020 census.  Brief History In the past, the inhabitants of the island named a place for which this place was known; the  PeƱaplata is said to derive from the word "pineapple" due to the abundance of pineapples in the area; This is a popular etymology, however, as PeƱaplata literally means "silver rock" in Spanish.  Later on, Spain controlled to triumph over the island withinside the past due 1840s while Nueva Vergara (Davao City today) became established.  Japanese forces occupied the island and...

Kadayawan Festival schedule of Activities, Davao City

  Kadayawan Festival in Davao City will ink its 33rd this August in celebration of Thanksgiving, abundant harvests, cultural representations, and good life. Kadayawan is considered one of amongst colorful festival celebrations in the Philippines participated with eleven ethnic tribes.  This festival starts when Ancient Visayan and Davao Ethnic tribes residing at the mount Apo gathered on a night of full moon for ritual celebration and thanksgiving to God called Manama and Bula for their bountiful harvests. Through the years, the Kadayawan festival is very much celebrated annually by modern DavaoeƱos continuing its flourishing thanksgiving traditions.

Strawberry Festival in Benguet, Philippines

La Trinidad is a first-class municipality and Benguet’s Capital with a population of more than 129,000.  The municipality is very famous in terms of vegetables, flowers, and strawberry plantations, no wonder, this place earning its namesake “ the Strawberry capital in the Philippines” and the home of the Strawberry Festival held annually.  Located in the central portion of Benguet, Tublay (northeast), Sablan (West), Itogon (southeast), Tuba (southwest), and Baguio City in the south.  

Binalbal Festival of Tudela, Misamis Occidental

The Binalbal Festival is celebrated every first of January in Tudela, Misamis Occidental in the Philippines. Binalbal means “Balbal” in Cebuano, symbolize a unique tradition and belief of the town about supernaturals, the witches, ogres, and the like elements which can be compared to the Halloween feast. The beginning of the celebration is called the “ Masquerade Ball" which begins every 31st of December, together with the new Year welcome until noontime of January first with the grand parade of the Festival.    

82nd Araw ng Davao schedule of Events and Activities

Davao City marked another year of Araw ng Davao  celebration this coming March 16, 2019. The City government is very optimistic that this yearly celebration attracts thousands of locals and foreign tourists visiting the City. Several events are being scheduled before the date of the celebration, including the most awaited event, the Mutya ng Davao on the 15th of March at the Davao City Recreational Center. On the 16th of March, the Civic-Military Parade will be showcased in the morning. This year, Araw ng Davao marked its 82nd year of celebration.
