Bayabas is a small town located in the province of Surigao del Sur, Philippines. It was originally a sitio (small settlement) in the nearby large town of Liang. In 1954, Bayavas became an independent municipality under Decree No. 82 signed by then-President Ramon Magsaysay. 

It is located in the eastern part of Surigao del Sur, bordering the Pacific Ocean to the east, the city of Lianga to the west, the city of San Agustin to the north, and the city of Marihatag to the south. Bayavas has an area of ​​about 65.87 km² and a population of about 8,000  (as of 2020). 

Bayabas is a predominantly agricultural town and the residents' main source of income is farming and fishing. The city's fertile soil and favorable climate are suitable for growing crops such as coconuts, bananas, maize, and rice. 

Despite its small size, Bayabas has several natural attractions such as waterfalls, beaches, and caves. One of the city's most popular tourist attractions is the Maragondon Caves, which contain amazing stalactite and stalagmite formations.
