Bislig's history can be traced back to the early 1900s when it was a small settlement in the big city of Hinatuan.  Bislig was officially declared a city in 1939 by Executive Order No. 240, signed by then-President Manuel Quezon. It became a partial city in 2000 under Republic Act No. 8804.  

Bislig is primarily an agricultural and fishing town, with coconuts, rice, and bananas being the main crops in the area. The city is also known for its rich mineral resources, especially nickel, and chromite.

  • Tinuy-an Falls: A Perfect Getaway for Nature Lovers

It is also known as the "Little Niagara Falls of the Philippines" due to its resemblance to the famous waterfalls of North America.  The waterfall is about 55 meters high and 95 meters wide, making it one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in the country. Water flows down from the three layers, creating an enchanting curtain of water and creating a refreshing mist in the air. 

Visitors can swim in the natural pools at the base of the falls or board bamboo rafts to get closer to the waterfall's waters. Small cabins and picnic tables are available for rent, perfect for family outings or picnics with friends. 

Tinuy-an Falls is located in the Bislig Bay area and can be reached by car or motorbike. It takes about 4 hours to drive from Butuan City and 6 hours to drive from Davao City. The best time to visit the falls is during the dry season (November to May) when the currents are strongest.

Hagonoy Island is a small scenic island off the coast of Bislig City in Surigao del Sur, Philippines. Known for its beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and lush greenery.  

The island is accessible by boat from the Bislig Bay area and is approximately a 30-minute drive. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a beautiful coastline of fine white sand beaches and crystal clear blue waters perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling.
