Municipality of Lugait, Misamis Oriental
Lugait is a municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 20,559 people. This town is one of the largest barrios in the Misamis Oriental region of Misamis Oriental.
The municipality has an area of 27.45 square kilometers or 10.60 square miles, accounting for 0.88% of the total area of Misamis Oriental. According to this figure, the population density is 749 people per square kilometer or 1,940 people per square mile.

Brief History
March 16, 1961, marked Lugait's autonomy from the parent city when then-President Carlos P. Garcia signed and published Executive Order No. 425 creating the Municipality of Lugait in the province of Misamis Oriental. Since its founding, Lugait has opened the door to industrialization took advantage of the opportunities prevailing at the time and soon the world knew about Lugait for her G.I. line of cement and roofing products. These products have become the slogan of the community.
Lugait borders Iligan Bay to the west. Head north through the city of Mantiquao in East Misamis. and south of Iligan City. It is located approximately 80 km from Cagayan de Oro City, the capital of Northern Mindanao (Region X). It is also approximately 17 kilometers north of Iligan City. It has a total area of 27.45 square kilometers (10.60 square miles).
The shores of Lugait are suitable for mooring and navigation. A real private pier is located at Salimbal Point. The dry and rainy season of Lugait is common across the country. However, it benefits from storm-free terrain.
