Magsaysay is a 1st class municipality in Davao Del Sur, Philippines. It has 56,263 residents according to the 2020 census. On June 17, 1967, the municipality of Magsaysay was created from 18 barangays belonging to Bansalan. In 1968, Barangay Kialeg officially became Barangay Poblacion, and it is still colloquially referred to as Kialeg. 

On February 7, 2021, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit near Magsaysay. The quake was strong enough to cause some minor damage to the nearby towns of Magsaysay and other cities
