Early morning view at Maragusan Town , Davao De Oro - Sea Of Cloud

Maragusan is a first-class municipality in the province of Davao De Oro located on the border of Pantukan and Davao Oriental. It has a population of 64,412 people according to census 2022 and is considered the 3rd most populated municipality in the province. Maragusan is surrounded by vast mountains as the main city is situated at the center and looks like in the center a “Kawa” (frying Pan).

Maragusan is famous for mining sites, and tourist spots. Havens peak highland Resorts is one of the famous spring resorts located on a hilltop with an overlooking view of the downtown.  Also, Waterfalls and spring resorts (hot and cold) are the most visited spots in this town, now wonder that hundreds of local tourists flock during the weekend just to enjoy the natural sights and experiences and became a hotspot, especially during summer.

The month of July when is revisited town, not for sightseeing but just to pass by because my intention was to be in Mati City and this is the fastest route so far. From San Francisco to Agusan del Sur, we took a ride following the map guide traversing the Pan-Pacific highway to going to Nabunturan. Here turn right to reach the town of Maragusan using the provincial road. For more than 30 minutes we narrate Maragusan; here you will have breakfast and travel again to Mati City.

The road is decent so far, paved with winding through mountainous areas became more interesting since we went down and uphill while the entire view is more on mountains and trees. It was beautiful, the green surroundings seemed naturally preserved. The town has strong agriculture, in fact, a large portion of the land majority became banana plantations, vegetable plantations, and rice paddies.

Tourist attractions as mentioned are rapidly growing despite the fact that the climate is tropically cool, mornings and late afternoons. We stop over at the small cafeteria for breakfast and continue the trip to Mati City right after. Along the road going uphill, I noticed a huge signboard on the right saying " the best sea of clouds site in Maragusan",  so we decide to take the opportunity to side-tripped since still early - the C & C Campo de Oro.

The entrance fee is 30 pesos with a bit of excitement entering the site, but the unpaved road came in along the way with a very challenging point going uphill until we arrived at the main site and the rest is a haven. This place is in development and expected to be more stunning in years to come but not much compared when it come to the entire views, I'm speechless!

This visit might not be the perfect time we have to witness the best sea of clouds experiences because we arrive a bit late. Although there are clouds just a small portion is left covering the mountains. According to the guide, we should be very early at 5 in the morning. At this point, nothing can be done but enjoy the priceless beauty of this place.

Campo de Oro is a paradise even if we remove the context of the Sea of Clouds. Lots of activities can be done in here aside from sightseeing and enjoying the cool weather.  Truly a magnificent place! very relaxing!

After a short walk and taking photos, We order the native coffee at the small stall and take a bit of rest at one of the cottages while killing our time and enduring the cool fresh air. Inside the park are several Bali-inspired and instagrammable spots, cottages, and small shops that offer traditional food like coffee, ready-to-eat snacks, instant noodles, and rice meals.  Try the all-time favorite native chicken adobo, the native chicken tinola, and the pork sinigang.

So, What now? Add this place to your bucket list, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of Maragusan.
