Closest route to the hidden paradise of Mati City - Puhada Island, Puhada Bay

Mati City is known as one of the tourism capitals of the Davao Region, notorious for its sand resorts and paradise islets. Mati City has located 182 km or about a 3-hour Car ride from Davao megacity, where the nearest transnational field in Mindanao is located. Mati City is known for Dahican Beach, Davao Oriental Museum, and the Sleeping Dinosaur.

Side Trip at the Sleeping Dinosaur

Early morning in June, we traveled south of Mati City to reach Sakura Beach resort in Barangay Macambol, situated along Puhada bay by private car.

Along the way is an iconic spot situated along the national highway, the sleeping dinosaur; a mountain in the shape of a dinosaur that seems to be sleeping. Take a shot with the best pictures. No booths, and pure views in this area especially in the early morning or sunset.

Back on the road until we reached the crossing in Dawan, turn left, to reach barangay Macambol and Sakura Beach Resort. On this visit, we’re not going to the Island but to show you the best view of Puhada Bay and Puhada Island.

Indeed, the Sakura Beach resort and barangay Macambol is the best place and closest place to reach Puhada Island which can be seen up near just in front of the Bay. Book a Day tour and arrange tours or rent a motor boat from the community to experience the beauty of Puhada Island

HOW TO GET THERE

  • Book a flight going to Davao City
  • At the Airport, a short walk to reach the bus stop located along the national road
  • Catch up a Bus going to Mati City
  • HOTELS in Mati City
TRAVEL NOTES:

  • Traveling from Dawan crossing/ intersection going to Sakura Beach is 22kms.  The route is mixed with rough roads, paved, with partial elevation.
  • This route is perfect for motor riders and bikers as all tracks can be experienced
  • This route is a loophole going to the littoral barangay of Langka, a discernible place when it comes to beach strands currently.
  • An extension route going to Governor Generoso, a known place here: Camp Bernardino; Cape San Agustin
