Visiting Siargao after super typhoon Odette Megahit (hurricane RAI)

Siargao Island, consists of several beautiful municipalities in Surigao del Norte fiefdom .It formerly enjoyed fashionability due to its natural beauty, beautiful people, and bank.

Siargao is one of the most notorious islets in the Philippines aligned with Boracay and Palawan and has formerly again hosted a movie starring a notorious actor, so it has gained indeed more identity. Tourism is abundant in this area

On December 16, 2021,  typhoon Odette devastated the entire islet leaving a traumatic experience for the people and indeed the livelihood of its occupants; the country's strongest hurricane this time, having landfall in destroying the lives of thousands of islet residers in Visayas and Mindanao.

I came to visit Siargao Island after 4 days of the typhoon fate for a community workshop and as part of a job call as a community organizer.

There was no boat trip schedule at this time, so we looked for an indispensable harborage to reach Siargao Island, so, take a chance and went to Claver city in the same fiefdom of Surigao del Norte.

Port of Hayanggabon, we missed the trip as we arrived late. Together with my platoon, we interrogate several people who are staying for a trip and perhaps agreed on renting a private boat to reach the islet – if there's one. There are small private boat passages to Siargao but the chow is precious, triadic of the anticipated normal chow.

Numerous of us patiently awaited at the harborage, utmost of us bothered about their family left on the Island-no cellular signal, food, and water deficit. Utmost of us carry those effects for the Island.

A while, the passenger boat arrived around noon, but it was intimately hired by the Department of Health assigned to pick up health and food inventories.

Dauntlessly, we talked to the Boat Captain to see if he could rent his boat. Through a concession, we luckily rented as the DOH help and their inventories will be arrived by 4 in the autumn. The boat captain approached the Coast Guard and agreed to depart, no overloading, ready to embark with further than 30 passengers hoping their family left in the islet is well.

The ocean was calm shortly. As we approached Siargao Island, the traces of typhoon fate with inflexibility; broken trees, wash outhouses, mountains burned.

At the Island, we incontinently conducted Team meetings to map and snappily respond to the requirements of every affected in the communities we serve; In any way, we can despite no electricity, no Bank, limited water force and our staff are also affected by the typhoon.

After the Meeting, time to visit those municipalities we've operated around Island; assess the damages, visiting the communities. Mixed passions, super sad feelings as I look around the surroundings.

But we shouldn't lose stopgap, we should help in the recovery of the Islet; the least recovery may be lost jobs, likewise, to the communities we serve. With the support of the government, with the help of other private sectors, with the disquisition of the people, and the determination of the residers then, Siargao can recover snappily.

As I voyaged city by city, near sightseer spots are snappily visited; devastated but still beautiful.

We take a quick break at Surf Cloud 9's World Famous Swells, the Magpupungko gemstone pools, Coconut overlooking view, Maasin's Bent Coconut Tree Rope
