Savoring Sate Ayam: A Culinary Journey in Nganjuk, Indonesia

Sate Ayam, or chicken barbecue, is a beloved dish in Indonesia, readily available across cities and regions. In fact, Indonesia boasts the highest chicken consumption in the world, second only to noodles. Situated in the eastern part of Java Island, Nganjuk City is no exception to this culinary tradition.

Unlike some other Asian countries like the Philippines, where soy sauce and calamansi syrup are common marinades for barbecue, Sate Ayam is prepared differently. It features succulent chicken pieces marinated in a mixture of kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), peanut paste or ground peanuts, fresh sliced onions, and various seasonings.

The result is a uniquely flavorful dish served on skewers, with each bite offering a perfect blend of tender meat and rich, savory sauce. If you find yourself in Indonesia, sampling Sate Ayam is an absolute must. Makanan yang ENAK! (Delicious food!)
