The stunning New Barili highlands in Mawab, Davao Region

Are you looking for a new sightseer magnet? Tara!

In the small city of Mawab in Davao de Oro, there are progressing mounds of the crop as a new sightseer haven in Davao Region. Located in barangay New Barili, New Barili Highland Resorts will bring you to another position of meaningful traveling experience.

One sunny weekend morning in the month of July, from Davao megacity, we traveled further than an hour drive going to the small town of Mawab. Reaching the city, we ask original hack motorists to navigate the upland to back the google charts to make sure the online maps are updated. 

Right later, we turn right and drive for lower than an hour (as per local motorist) to reach the New Barili highland Resort passing a two-lane concrete road going to the barangay Mainit.

Following the charts and signage, we ended up at the mining point entrance, ask authorization to use the access road going to barangay New Barili and granted by leaving my ID and logging my name in the record book for security.


A little nervous feeling that there might be an apprehension waiting. The road gradationally narrowing as we make our way up the side towards New Barili highland. Starting to get dark, soliciting that rain would not pour heavily. Beyond is the morning of traipsing the grueling path to the mounds; muddy, rocky rough roads and steep uphill! I'm relief! as the original checkpoint of the uphill vill was reached.

We pay 20 pesos for the environmental figure and ask! how far we'd go to reach the upland resort? He refocused out the position as we see the paradisiacal structure that stood on the advanced ground from where we were standing and the rest is paradise.

The upland resort is situated in the midst of vast mountains with a 360 degrees panoramic view of the Davao Gulf and vast greenish mountains with a tropical cool climate generally experienced in the morning and autumn.

There are several installations that await your coming. At the lower part of the upland,  a unique apartment with a pyramidic design can be rented with overlooking mountain views suited for a long holiday, cottages lodges for a large group, and a restaurant located beside the entrance. 

The Captains Deck is the main magnet just steps down from the lodges which give a stunning view of Davao Gulf and stylish to take recollections from dusk till dawn.

At the advanced part of the resort are the café, function hall, and premiere apartments. Grazed café is my favorite spot with a round view sundeck around the timepiece, a great place for hanging out and having coffee while watching the evening. 

A place that can truly escape the fast-moving noisy and chaotic megacity. Enjoying the air of the surroundings and the world of nature.

New Barili Highland resort is truly a new wonder of the Davao region.

  • From Davao Airport, Look for a bus stop at the airport exit gate beside Mcdonalds.
  • Catch up a Bus bound for Nabunturan, Bislig City, or Butuan City
  • Get off at Mawab Town Integrated Terminal
  • At the terminal, hire a motorcycle to reach the New Barili Highland Resort
