The highest waterfalls in the Philippines | Aliwagwag falls, Davao Oriental

 Aliwagwag Waterfalls is part tropical lowlands rainforest of Aliwagwag Protected Landscape located in the 2nd class Municipality of Cateel, East Coast of Davao Oriental in the Philippines.  Cateel is much known when it comes to Agriculture to support the needs of more the forty (40) thousand populations. But in 2012, the town is severely affected by category 5 typhoon Pablo that destroys major parts of the town; many families lose their homes, livelihoods, and the Aliwagwag Falls. 


However, people are not losing their hope to rise up from devastation. Years after, folks are slowly recovering from disaster while Aliwagwag Eco-Tourism Park re-develops to re-activate the tourism vitality and back its natural beauty. 


Aliwagwag Falls is a gigantic waterfall revealing 84 falls which can be likened to stairways to heaven. It is considered as one of the best and the highest waterfalls in the entire Philippines with a total of 340 meters high and a width of 20 meters. Connects 13 rapids to cross most of which are seen in the forests up to the foot and 136 steps waterfalls pour downward rapidly throughout rock formations.


Looking for Extreme Activities? Well, these places may be for. Aside from the awe-inspiring view, Aliwagwag  Eco-Tourism parks offer outbound Activities, Picnic Area and Canteen. A length of 680 meters zip-line will levitate you to the ground with an overlooking view of Cateel Protected Landscapes. Experience the monkey bridge that brings you closer to the waterfall threshold.  Have a soothing water experience at the Swimming Area and; hanging bridges which will serve your way in exploring the whole park






HOW TO GET THERE

Daily flights available from Manila, Cebu to Davao City;

Option 1: (Via Mati - Diosdado Macapagal Road)
  • Bus stop at the Front of Jose Maria College (beside Airport exit)
  • Ride a Bachelor Bus or Van bound for Cateel or Boston.
  • Get off to Cateel-Comval intersection. 
  • Ride motorcycle going to Aliwagwag Waterfalls

Option 2: (via Compostela Road)
  • Bus stop at the Front of Jose Maria College (beside Airport exit)
  • Ride a bus or Van bound for Cateel or Boston.
  • Get off to Aliwagwag Falls
