Camiguin Island | The stunning beauty of the Tuasan Falls
There is a never-ending exploration in Camiguin Island's alluring destinations, from dipping into the inland waters, exploring the Islands' beaches up to the historical places. But then, it will not be completed if you dropped an opportunity to scout the majestic waterfalls on the Island. On the second day of the visit, got lucky with perfect weather, the group headed to barangay Mainit in the town of Catarman to experience the nature's impact of the Tuasan Falls. It is about 27 kilometers away from the place we stay in Mambajao.
Going there is like, easy as pie; passing a very accessible and concrete road with a little bit of zigzag towards the location. If you're passing the same way, don’t miss to visit the Sunken Cemetery just along the road in Barangay Bonbon.
Tuasan falls might not be as gorgeous as expected in terms of the heights, but the extensiveness water pressure flowing at the entrance and its mind-blowing current towards the entrance is truly impressive. Solid rock formations served as waterfall backgrounds surround by blooming greenery vegetation. Although development is in place, the natural beauty of the surrounding still observed. means that the local government and tourism department learned the sustainable eco-tourism for considering the importance of the environment.
Dipping into the water is fun. But, getting closer to the mainstream is quite challenging since the mini lagoon has a deeper portion and the crystal cold water makes you freeze. An open part of the falls that the kids would enjoy for swimming, but it is necessary to watch them for their safety.
Tuasan Falls is a less than 10 minutes motorcycle ride from the center of Barangay Mainit. Since 2017, the Management starts imposing an entrance fee collection to all tourists visiting the Tuasan Falls. Bringing foods is allowed but the “No littering policy” is strictly implemented in the area.

HOW TO GET THERE
You may reach Camiguin via direct flight (but a limited schedule by Cebu Pacific) from Manila or Cebu City.
If you are far/outside from this City, you may book a flight (with a daily schedule) bound for Laguindingan Airport (CGY/RPMY) from the major airport in the country; Luzon (Clark, NAIA), Visayas (Cebu City, Ilo-Ilo, Bacolod), and; Mindanao (Siargao, Davao City, Zamboanga City).
From Laguindingan Airport
Catch up a Van bound for Cagayan De Oro City at the terminal located at the arrival area, then get off to Agora Terminal (less than 2 hours ride). From there, take a Bus ride bound for Gingoog, Butuan or Surigao City then get off to Balingoan Bus Terminal (just an hour ride). Look for the Ferry Terminal just walking distance after the national road. Get a ticket and wait for a boarding announcement.
Schedule of Ferry Trip bound for Camiguin start at 4:00 am up to 5:00pm. The best way and cheaper transportation in Camiguin is to ride with the motorcycle (habal-habal) or multicab upon docked at Camiguin port going to your first things to DO destination in Camiguin Island.
There is also a daily trip schedule of the ferry from Jagna port in Bohol and a weekly trip from Cebu to Camiguin.
You may also reach Camiguin via land travel from Surigao, Butuan, Zamboanga City, and Davao City.
