Exploring the Majestic Sedudo Waterfall in Nganjuk, Indonesia

When you find yourself in Nganjuk, Indonesia, don't miss the chance to explore its famous waterfalls, often frequented by locals and tourists alike. Among these natural wonders is Sedudo Waterfall, nestled in Ngliman Village, Sawahan District, within Nganjuk Regency. This picturesque waterfall sits at an altitude of 1,438 meters above sea level, cascading approximately 105 meters down near the base of Mount Wilis.

Sedudo Waterfall not only serves as a stunning attraction but also holds cultural significance as a site for festivities and rituals. Over the years, the government has invested in the development of this area, improving roads and adding facilities to enhance the visitor experience. Among these additions are swimming pools, which play a vital role during local celebrations and ceremonies.

During my visit to this charming town in 2018, I was struck by the warmth and hospitality of the people of Nganjuk, especially towards visitors. To reach the waterfall, I opted to hire a motorcycle for 100 thousand rupiahs, embarking on an hour-long journey to Ngliman Village. Upon arrival, a nominal entrance fee of 3,000 rupiahs per person granted access to the breathtaking beauty of Sedudo Waterfall. Be sure to sample the local cuisine available at various food stalls in the area.

One culinary delight not to be missed in Nganjuk is the unique flavor of Soto Daging Nganjuk. Unlike any other regional variations found in East Java, this dish boasts a rich broth made with coconut milk, infused with curry and an array of spices, and served with tender goat meat. It's a culinary experience like no other!

For those eager to visit Nganjuk, Yogyakarta and Surabaya have enhanced their transportation systems, offering convenient access to the town. Travel options include public buses or rental vehicles, providing flexibility for travelers. Additionally, flights from Yogyakarta and Surabaya are available for those coming from other provinces, ensuring easy access to Nganjuk's natural treasures and cultural delights.
