Mindanao | Visiting the promising town of Bacuag in Surigao Del Norte

Bacuag, a small town located in the fiefdom of Surigao del Norte with a population of 14,881 people in census 2020. Rich in ocean coffers and beautiful sand lines, Bacuag Town is positioned 44 kilometers from Surigao City facing the eastern seacoast of Mindanao.

From the town of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur we traveled further than 2 hours by auto to reach the town of Bacuag traversing the hilly road with an overlooking view of Mainit lake. Borders of Agusan-Surigao were a bit strict, demanded to have a valid employment ID and trip pass for us to enter the Surigao border.

Arriving at the Bacuag city, conspicuous are the old structures that still serve the town for commercial spaces. People live a simple life, there are no promenades with limited establishments. It's conspicuous that this city was left before when it comes to profitable addresses.

After the short perambulation at the main town, we headed to a small beach house,  The Dela Serna Beach Resort.  Just an uncredited strand in the city with several types of installations like lodges, function halls, and food halls. And of course, don’t meddle with videoke singalong. Fit a 5 peso coin for 2 selections of songs.

At the beachfront is a beautiful greyish beach girdled by Islands with clear sand water. Not far down, can be planted an iconic spot in the city, a small islet with a hanging ground attached to the reinforcement. Amazing!

I decided to get near to the Island entrance to find out if can suitable to enter. Unfortunately, this sightseer spot is still close to the callers. Covid19 really affects the tourism in this city and the people who calculate in this magnet. I just decide to take a shot and get back to the sand house.

The town of Bacuag has great eventuality when it comes to tourism potentials. It has beautiful plages, Islets to be explored, the fresh seafood catch by original fishers, and the amazing hospitality of the people. Government support may be demanded to increase the compass of tourism information crusade and develop further establishments that can help in the development of the city area.
