Governor Generoso; The new tourism heaven in Davao Region


Governor Generoso is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Davao Oriental and named after Sebastian T. Generoso, a former governor of the Davao Region. The total population estimates of more than 51 thousand people covering 20 barangays; Tibanban serves as a commercial center of the town.

 

This Municipality has massive coastlines that serve an impressive contribution to the local economy rely on its natural resources related to agriculture, fisheries, and now the booming tourism. 

Here are some catching things to do in Governor Generoso;

The Mountain 

Mount Haguimitan Ridge wildlife sanctuary is a UNESCO heritage site and a protected area; a home of critically endangered trees, endemic floras and faunas, plants, and the Philippine eagle. This site is open for camping and day tour.

The Spring Resorts 
If you are bragging about spring resorts in the province, Governor Generoso has a lot to offer. Here are some of the many spring resorts in town

The Beaches 
Governor Generoso arouses attention to the locals for its beautiful beaches that attract thousands of tourists even during the post-pandemic time; because of the natural white milky sand of the coastline.  

The Cape San Agustin - the last frontier 
Cape San Agustin is famous for its unique location; when you look at the Map, you will be at the edge of the Philippines fronting the Celebes Sea. It has three lighthouses with service by its generations. At the bottom, it is a noticeable rock formation that looks like a shrine. From an old folks viewpoint, it has a religious contribution when the first Christianity was born in Mindanao. that rock? "The Altar" as called by locals.

The Seafood
As a town situated in the coastal area, seafood is everywhere. You can find various kinds of Seafood choices like blue crabs, varieties of fishes class, variation of squid, and seaweeds. Just imagine, buying a fresh catch directly from the fishermen at the shore is cheaper than any other 
During this post-pandemic time, tourism in Governor Generoso opens its door for the local travelers; you may need to have a booking to the resorts or hotel unless. Truly difficult to pass the border checkpoint once you missed it. 

 

HOW TO GET THERE
The closest airport is in Davao City (Bangoy International airport). From there, ride a cab going to the bus terminal at the Ecoland. Look for the bus lane with a direct bound for Governor Generoso.

Agusan Province or Butuan Airport  
Catch up a bus bound for Tagum City Integrated Bus terminal. From there, look for a bus lane and transfer at the bus bound for Governor Generoso.
